Skid Pro 60-Inch Flail Mower for Skid Steers
Overview
Skid Pro's 60-inch flail mower is a compact hydraulic flail attachment for skid steers on roadside vegetation control, right-of-way maintenance, and residential brush management. Flail mowers are preferred over rotary cutters in areas where debris throw is a safety concern — the hinged flails shred material and drop it rather than throwing it at high velocity. Available through Skid Pro's Canadian distributors.

Is This Right For You?
Buy if
- You operate a mini skid steer (Dingo, Boxer, Toro) and need a mowing attachment that fits the weight class
- Tight spaces, urban landscaping, or orchard row maintenance where a full-size machine can't maneuver
- You want contained discharge for safe operation near buildings, fences, or people
Skip if
- You run a full-size skid steer — a standard flail mower gives better productivity and coverage
- Heavy brush is your main target — mini flails are built for grass and light vegetation only
Also consider
- Standard flail mower sized for your full-size skid steer if applicable
- Rotary cutter for light brush on mini skid steers with appropriate flow
Compatible with all skid steer brands and compact track loaders via universal SSQA quick attach. Mid to large-frame machines (S450–S750 class) are the best fit for this width.

Care & Maintenance
- Inspect all flail hammers before every use — broken or missing hammers unbalance the rotor; a single missing hammer at high RPM creates destructive vibration
- Replace flail hammers in matched sets to maintain rotor balance — even one missing hammer causes vibration that damages drive motor bearings
- Grease rotor shaft bearing housings after every 8 hours of cutting
- Remove wrapped wire, twine, and root material from around the rotor shaft after every session — wrapped material cuts through shaft seals and causes bearing contamination
- Check the hydraulic motor case drain line for leakage after extended work in thick material — a restricted drain causes shaft seal failure and catastrophic motor damage
How to Connect
- Attach frame using Bob-Tach
- Connect high-flow hydraulic couplers
- Run rotor at idle for 20 seconds before engaging full speed
- Test stall protection if equipped
