Baumalight's FM288 is a heavy-duty 88-inch skid steer flail mower designed for high-production mowing on large parcels, road allowances, and commercial right-of-way maintenance. The wide 88-inch rotor requires 18–35 GPM and is suited to large-frame or high-flow skid steers. Flail teeth stay contained on impact for safer operation near structures and traffic. - Inspect all flail hammers before every use — broken or missing hammers unbalance the rotor; a single missing hammer at high RPM creates destructive vibration
- Replace flail hammers in matched sets to maintain rotor balance — even one missing hammer causes vibration that damages drive motor bearings
- Grease rotor shaft bearing housings after every 8 hours of cutting
- Remove wrapped wire, twine, and root material from around the rotor shaft after every session — wrapped material cuts through shaft seals and causes bearing contamination
- Check the hydraulic motor case drain line for leakage after extended work in thick material — a restricted drain causes shaft seal failure and catastrophic motor damage
