Baumalight SWF560 Skid Steer Boom Flail Mower
Overview
The Baumalight SWF560 is a boom-mounted skid steer flail mower for cutting steep ditches, embankments, and vegetation beyond the machine's reach. The articulated boom extends the 48-inch mowing head to work slopes and roadside swales that a standard front-mounted mower can't access. Requires a skid steer with minimum carrier weight of 6,000 lbs and compatible with multiple motor options for different GPM ranges. Made in Canada.

Is This Right For You?
Buy if
- You mow along ditches, embankments, and right-of-ways where the mower needs to reach laterally
- Municipal roadside clearing, utility corridors, or steep-sided ditches are regular work
- You want reach without repositioning the machine — the boom extends your cutting range significantly
Skip if
- You're doing flat-field mowing — a standard flail mower is simpler and covers more ground
- Budget is tight — boom flail mowers cost significantly more than standard models
Also consider
- Standard flail mower for flat-field and pasture mowing
- Rotary cutter for light brush in flat terrain at lower cost
Compact size fits small-frame machines (S70–S185 class) as well as mid and large-frame loaders. Universal SSQA mount works with all major brands.

Care & Maintenance
- Inspect all flail hammers before every use — broken or missing hammers unbalance the rotor; a single missing hammer at high RPM creates destructive vibration
- Replace flail hammers in matched sets to maintain rotor balance — even one missing hammer causes vibration that damages drive motor bearings
- Grease rotor shaft bearing housings after every 8 hours of cutting
- Remove wrapped wire, twine, and root material from around the rotor shaft after every session — wrapped material cuts through shaft seals and causes bearing contamination
- Check the hydraulic motor case drain line for leakage after extended work in thick material — a restricted drain causes shaft seal failure and catastrophic motor damage
How to Connect
- Attach frame using Bob-Tach
- Connect high-flow hydraulic couplers
- Run rotor at idle for 20 seconds before engaging full speed
- Test stall protection if equipped
