- Remove wrapped material (wire, twine, root) from around the rotor shaft after every use — wrapped material cuts through shaft seals and causes bearing contamination

- Connect hydraulic couplers for motor
- Test blade rotation direction before cutting
- Keep 50m+ clear of bystanders — blade tip speed is extremely high
