Virnig V60 96-Inch Land Plane for Skid Steers
Overview
The Virnig V60 96-inch land plane is built for high-production grading on farm yards, gravel roads, and large unpaved surfaces. No auxiliary hydraulics required — float mode follows ground contours automatically. A reversible bolt-on cutting edge (5/8"×8") extends service life without welding. Sized for large-frame skid steers with a loader capacity over 1,500 lbs. The optional hydraulic scarifier breaks up hard-packed or frost-heaved surfaces before grading. Heavier and more rigid than most comparable land planes. Built in Minnesota and available in Canada through Virnig's dealer network.

Is This Right For You?
Buy if
- You maintain gravel driveways, rural roads, acreage laneways, or field access roads with a skid steer
- Float mode is available on your machine — landplanes need to float to follow the contour of the ground
Skip if
- Your surface is hardpan or frozen — a land plane rides on top of hard surfaces and doesn't cut into them
- You need to move large volumes of material — a land plane redistributes existing material, it doesn't load and dump
Also consider
- Box blade for primary grading before final land plane pass
- Dozer blade if you need to push material rather than float and level
Wide attachment — verify your machine's rated operating capacity (ROC) before ordering. Compatible with all skid steer brands via universal SSQA quick attach — no auxiliary hydraulics required.
About Virnig in Canada
Virnig Manufacturing is a Minnesota-based producer known for consistent build quality and a wide model range. Their attachments ship to Canadian dealers regularly and are a common sight on Western and Prairie job sites.
Care & Maintenance
- Inspect the floating blade for wear — sharp edges level properly; a worn-smooth edge scrapes without cutting and leaves a rough surface
- Lubricate blade hinge and float mechanism pivot pins each season — seized float pivots defeat the purpose of the attachment
- Check scarifier shanks for tooth wear or breakage before each use — a missing shank puts lateral load on adjacent shanks and the boom
- After use in mud or clay, clean accumulated material from the blade housing — dried clay adds uneven weight and prevents proper floating
- Inspect blade-mounting welds for cracking at season start — the float mechanism amplifies vertical stress on the mounting hardware over time
How to Connect
- Attach frame using Bob-Tach
- Connect hydraulic tilt circuit if equipped (some are passive/manual)
- Set cutting angle before working (typically 0-5° for finish grade)
