Attachment Recommendations
How to Read Your Machine's Specs
Rated Operating Capacity (ROC)
ROC is 50% of the machine's tipping load and is stamped on the spec plate inside the cab. It's the maximum weight you should lift at full reach. Attachment weight counts against your ROC — a 600 lb grapple on a 1,500 lb ROC machine leaves only 900 lbs for material.
Hydraulic Flow (GPM)
Your machine's auxiliary hydraulic output in gallons per minute. Standard flow: 14–18 GPM, on virtually all machines. High flow: 22–30 GPM, typically an ordered option that must be enabled. Ultra high flow: 30+ GPM, available on specific large-frame models.
Machine Classes Explained
- Compact (<1,000 lb ROC): Bobcat S70, Case SR130, Kubota SSV65
- Mid-frame (1,000–1,750 lb): Bobcat S650, Case SV340, Kubota SVL75
- Large-frame (1,750–2,500 lb): Bobcat S770, JD 332G, CAT 299D
- Heavy (>2,500 lb): Bobcat T870, CAT 299D XHP, JD 344L
Width Selection Logic
Attachment width should not exceed your machine frame width by more than 6 inches. Wider attachments reduce breakout force and operator visibility. For high-production work, match width to your lane width, not your machine's maximum capacity.
Hydraulic Flow Reference
🟢 Standard Flow Sufficient
- GP buckets, rock buckets (no hydraulics)
- Pallet forks (no hydraulics)
- Snow pushers — basic (no hydraulics)
- Grapples — standard aux
- Augers — standard drive units
- Angle blades, snow blades
- Brooms, soil conditioners, power rakes
- Post drivers, cement mixers
- Landplanes (no hydraulics)
🟡 High Flow Required
- Rotary cutters (18–30 GPM)
- Flail mowers (18–30 GPM)
- Stump grinders (15–35 GPM)
- Chain trenchers (18–30 GPM)
- Rock wheel trenchers (25–35 GPM)
- Hydraulic breakers — large class
- High-torque auger drives
- Snow blowers — large (22+ GPM)
🔴 Ultra High Flow Required
- Drum mulchers (25–45 GPM)
- Disc mulchers (30–40 GPM)
- Cold planers (30–45 GPM)
- Forestry cutters — heavy class
- Production stump grinders
CUL (Stand-On Loader) Limits
Compact Utility Loaders (Dingo, Boxer, etc.) typically have ROC of 500–1,200 lbs and standard flow only. Avoid: mulchers, large rotary cutters, heavy trenchers, heavy stump grinders. Suitable for: light buckets, small augers, post drivers, small brooms, landplanes, small grapples.
